The Scott Genius LT is a weapon of a bike. It's unstoppable from climbing to ripping downhill making it the most versatile bike in our stable. With the flick of the Twinloc switch and press of a Reverb button you can have your suspension locked and seat up to climb, or squishy and slammed to pin down. Not to mention carbon is fast...

All mountain shred on the Genius LT.

you guys that rag on all mountain, are you special? all mountain is probably one of the best forms of riding, riding sweet smooth flowy trails at a decent cruise speed, its not all about oh lets go buy a $6000 bike with 10 inches of travel and huck some jumps no your bad, this is how you get your skills, your sick lines, this is the corner stone right here, costal crew you guys are great keep up the amazing work.

Yes! Every style of riding (except for road biking) is fun and legitimate. U can ride all mountain without having to have ur sister be late for work because she is shuttling u up the mountain. U also don't have to dodge the forest service to make ur trail fun. Don't get me wrong, I love downhill and have a downhill bike. but all mountain is something everyone can ride even when u busted the strut on ur car and the new parts havent come in yet and you have to ride ur bike to the trails.

Road biking/ racing makes you fast, is legit and can be fun. You're not going to find too many pros who don't or haven't ridden on the road. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4153/4986800134_f795773cbb.jpg

Road biking is like jerking it. Its something u gotta do when there isn't anything else to ride.

to be honest all forms of biking are great including road riding! it's just those BMXers that i just don't get, them and there 20" wheels, they should man up and ride real bikes.

@alexblayden BMX is where skills are learnt, from manualing to bunny hopping, judging speed and gaps, BMX is where its learnt. Sure I don't BMX, and don't plan on it anytime soon, but I used to, and I doubt that nI would be able to ride the trails I do now without it. OK so BMX is a strange concept, but it does heaps of benefits for your riding.

I love how sam hill is afraid of clipless even on a road bike, and I'm sorry but road riding in normal shorts is like downhilling in lycra........ that being said he's accomplished something I most likely never will: world champion

flag angrynipples (Oct 5, 2011 at 20:25)
it's so true though. You dont have to dress the part but it really helps. When I do my 50k mountain runs you bet your ass I'm wearing short shorts. and XC and Road biking I'm definitely wearing lycra. But DH/Freeride is awesome and I feel like jean cutoffs and a flannel is completely appropriate and probably the most comfortable

the thing i always found hilarious about cycling is how the money left over from the bike is for looking cool roadies love castelli aero race kit for that and downhillers buy everything TLD

But if you think about it, for sam, road biking is for fitness right? so the less aerodynamic, the more efficient his training is. So unless your racing, where speed is priority, DH gear is better in my opinion.
  • + 2
flag angrynipples (Oct 6, 2011 at 19:14)
by that logic they should do their running with weight belts and sweat pants
  • + 1
flag finnrambo (Oct 7, 2011 at 21:46)
track cycling (velodrome) is much better training for dh as the races are short and have loads of sprints, road bikes aren't the best for dh training because you don't have to ride 7+ hours on a dh bike...... btw baggy shorts get annoying at road and track cycling speeds as the wind causes them to ride up

OK people, that was a sick edit. thats the stuff I love riding, and they made me look like I wasn't even out of training wheels, or maybe even diapers. Coastal crew is rad, and if your as good as them, you might as well show everyone that biking isn't just about what you famous for (in their case bombing downhill with massive suspension and crazy drops and hucks and such). Sometimes, its just about the ride. And in my opinion, that ride looked SICK!!!!!!

I really liked the black and white fade in fade out. Great editing overall. AM to me means riding everything both up and down including gnar lines, gaps, whatever. This vid is very similar to their others vids just void of the fun to watch features. This video seems like something a bike company would put out to market their new trail bike.

Who cares what type of riding you do. as long as you have fun and do what you want id doesn't matter. so everybody just chill and let people think what they want. he didn't like it. well then he didn't like it. that's his choice so don't bag on him. but others that like it the good for you. do what you want and have fun.

True All Mountain is as much climbing as it is descending. If you go out to make an "All Mountain" video, you'd think you remember that and not just load it up with flowy downhill footage. Oh wait, that's all anyone wants to watch... Riding DH on an All Mountain rig and an open face helmet is not All Mountain riding. Most descents on your typical trail ride are not that visually thrilling or technically challenging. Maybe the Coastal crew should stick to what they're good at...and at what people want to see.

it's a good edit and all but i kind of felt a bit dissapointed because really, this is just two guys belting it down a hill on their all mountain bikes :/ i hate to be this way but all mountain is about riding everything tbh, up and down, just my thoughts Razz

flag racerfacer (Oct 4, 2011 at 7:16)
And I wouldn't call that "all mountain" either. The trails were buff and smooth they could have been ridden on a cyclocross bike or a rigid bike. Are "all mountain" and "aggro-xc" just cross country for cool people? I prefer to think of style in terms of trail difficulty: DH is hard black runs and double blacks, XC is everything up to and including easy black runs. I would say an "all mountain" trail has a significant climb for a hard black or double black descent.

The beauty of the all mountain bike is that you can crush an XC ride like that, then go for a 5000ft descent all on the same bike
